Traditional English teaching mode emphasizes systematic knowledge, mainly instilling language knowledge, lacking in pragmatic competence cultivation, overemphasizing the acquisition of language forms and neglecting the communicative function of language. This teaching model led to the lack of understanding of the context, cultural differences and other aspects of the students, the communication effect is not satisfactory. Therefore, it is necessary for English teachers and students to examine the language ability from a new perspective, to recognize the pragmatic failure, to analyze the reasons and to enhance the students’ pragmatic competence in intercultural communication.
