This paper describes the application of cutoff wall method in the recovery of ore below the elevation of the dump site affected by tidal activity. The cut-off wall, 32 inches thick (1 inch = 2.54 cm) and 300,000 feet 2 (1 ft 2 = 0.09289 m 2) thick, is about 200 pounds per square inch (2 pounds per square inch to about 6.8948 inches) MPa) low-strength plastic concrete that can withstand about 100 feet (1 foot = 0.3048m) head. The cut-off wall constructed in a highly seepage-prone beach dump will allow the open pit slope to expand 300 feet, thus providing additional ore reserves for four years of mining. This article reviews the project from its inception to its mining, including on-site investigations and studies, engineering design concerns and complex issues, construction obstacles and how to overcome them. The end of the article describes the monitoring system used and the performance of this cutoff wall so far.
