When we first met, we did not sound like a natural partner to get together: one was a biologist who just came from the British Pharmacopoeia and one was a material scientist from the German Nanomaterials Group. But we have several things in common: we all do postdocs at the CIC biomaGUNE nanoparticle lab at a biomaterials research institute in the Basque Country of Spain, and we are all interested in broadening our horizons and wanting to be in the discipline of our own Continue to grow beyond training. Therefore, while it seems unlikely that initially we were able to produce any productive result together, eventually we overcame the difficulties and formed a pleasant partnership that led to truly interdisciplinary research.
