作为20世纪著名的美学家、现代艺术的维护者,阿多诺和格林伯格都从各自角度敏感地对资本主义发展过程中出现的新问题进行过分析,在对大众文化的批判、对精英主义趣味的推崇、对艺术自律的追求等观点中,两人的思想存在很多相似性,但就理论阐释的出发点和目的而言却差别很大。因此,本文旨在论述阿多诺和格林伯格现代主义艺术批评中的主要观点,比较两人思想中的相似性与差别性,从而更好地把握其理论形成的背景及其现代主义理论的不同内涵与范畴。
