张曼君执导的戏相当多,涵盖不少剧种,成功率也比较高,要评述她谈何容易!我只想说她作品吸引我的一个亮点:十分重视并善于运用民间音乐、民间舞蹈、民间习俗来丰富地方戏曲。这种做法并非由她开始,但她做得格外自觉,持续不断,取得丰硕成果。我把她的这种艺术追求,戏称之为导演艺术的“三民主义”。这个“三民主义”同张曼君的艺术出身有关。她年轻时是赣南采茶戏的优秀演员,能戏甚多,才思敏捷,会自编自导自演,如传统戏《试妻》,经她重新处理,成了一出很有格调的喜剧。
