Gu Xinli struggled for 44 years on China’s oil technology front and created one after another science and technology “first”: the chain pumping unit invented by him was awarded the National Science Conference Award and the second prize of the State Invention; the first shallow sea in China Shengli No.1 drilling rig won the third prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award; the first walk-on drilling rig Shengli No. 2 won the gold award of China Patent, one of China’s top ten scientific and technological achievements in 1992 and the second prize of National Invention; the first hydraulic Energy storage workover rigs were awarded China, the United States, Canada, China National Petroleum Corporation Ten Science and Technology Achievement Award, China Gold Award.
