【Abstract】This paper tended to make a brief introduction of task-based teaching method and the situation of vocational school students’ English learning in the large scare class, then the writer focused on exploring a way of applying the tasked-based method in the English teaching, which would be an active approach of teaching evolution.

I. A brief introduction of task-based approach
1. Task-based approach is one kind of teaching method based on the constructivism which insisted that the gaining of knowledge of students are not relied on the teachers, but in social situation with the cooperation of teacher and students partners with the help certain reference information. It is a method of student centered and using task as tool and aims, thus the students can use their knowledge and skills to gain the new knowledge and improve their skills.
According to Jane Willis (1996), the theory frames of the task-based approach included 3 steps: pre-task, task circle, after-task. As Nunan(1989) pointed out the approach was one of the effective ways of changing the teacher’s lecture method.
2. The difference of traditional teaching method and task-based method lies on the roles of teachers and students. For the students, working in groups instead of by themselves, they are doing something while learning which will bring them some kinds of satisfaction. Teachers are not as busy as they used to be: teaching all the time. They are now the designer and guide of the classroom.
In the traditional method,as the survey and studies have showed that in the traditional class where teacher are the center, the sources and master of learning, in such situation students are easy to doze off, and tend to their wonderful cell phone games. They even willing to spend a lot money to the games than to listening the boring and tedious reading of text and grammar explaining of the teacher.
Task based approach has greatly changed the thoughts of teaching and learning methods that are focused on the lecturing of teachers. It is a student-centered learning. Students are not passively accept the teachers’ explaining of language points. On the opposite, they decide the pace of learning process. In the classroom learning students are lighten and inspiring with vivid activities and making great effort for learning activities.
II. Situation of students’ English learning in the vocational school 1. Students English learning interest
According to many researches of experts, it is widely reported that students are not interested in learning English. As the writer had made a survey about English learning of students showed that nearly 90% of the students didn’t show any confident and interested to carry on their study of English grammar, while students are eager to being able to learn it well in the future. Thus how to help the students’ to gain their self-effect.
2. Students’ learning behaviors
Most of the vocational students of vocational school have not formed the appropriate learning behaviors during the early years of study in the primary school and middle school. In another word, which may sound not comfortable for all of us that they are called the loser of compulsive education.
3. The inferences of cell phone using
With the development of technology and widely used of cell phone, which are proved that may be good news for the students to learn English conveniently. While all these are what the experts’ best wised printed on the paper. In practical world, more and more vocational school students who are lack the guide of parents and teachers or weak in self control are addict to the playing the games with their phones rather than make full use of the study apps to improve their English even in the classroom which would be a great threat to their normal classroom activities and which stopped them from gaining more basic knowledge and skill of English.
4. The inference of internet
Network facilities are on the way to be perfect as campus digital project are processing. Most of vocational schools are fasten their pace of getting the network facilities going through every corners of the campus, and many works tasks are waiting to be improved. For the students and the teacher using the network in the classroom for teaching and studying are still a dream for the fee are too high and most school are not able to fulfill the need of all the students to use the campus internet platform for studying at the same time which would be block and broken down. More work are needed to be done to make environment and facilities and so as the way of our teaching method.
III. The importance of learning English for the vocational students
As the dramatic changes of society and the fast development of are taking place in China, more and more first line technology workers are needed in the future. Vocational schools are regarded as the cradle of all these new labors. They shares great responsible for the education and the qualification of workers which have great connection to the fulfillment of the county’s future. It is believed that the students of vocational school would have more chances to go aboard for study or work aboard, where they need to use English. They are cultivated to be the skilled worker of the country that would be of great important to the fulfill of China dream in the future. Therefore the qualification of vocational school English learning has raised great discussions. Many experts and teachers are trying to deal with the reform of teaching in order to improve the qualification. In order to change the situation of our own school we make plans of applying then new approach in our classroom teaching. IV. The application of task-based in the large scare class English teaching
We set a class of tourism major of the writer’s school as an example. It is a class of Grade two of tourism. It is a so called large scare class which consists more than 50 students, students are divided into several groups according to the difficulty of the task, each group are no more than 6 people.
Task assignment: Students are to design a T-shirt that are suitable for the future work (a tour guide in the park)
Requires: students are expected to use the paper of PPT to show their final design. And the group leader are in charge of explaining the materials and the style of the clothes, and present the jobs of each group member in front of the blackboard. The styles of the presentation can be decided by the students, for example either mini fashion show or mini exhibition are acceptable.

In the special task we provide words fabric, colors, and style , and key sentences for the students.
After-task : 1. Students are Write down the sentences to describe the design of A T-shirt, which may also include the color, materials, and style.
2. Write down the process of how to make out the design which will be the next related task in the class.
Access: 1.Ask the leaders of each group to give comments to each others, and choose the perfect one.
2. Invite the group members to vote for the prefect designs, each have two chances.
3. Teacher give the comment to each group’s performance.
Reflect: Task-based approach is a good way to encourage students to take part in the classroom learning activities. From the performance of the students we realized that it is a good way to help students to getting rid of playing cell phone game, and on the other hand, it enhance the communication between classmates, members and partner. It provide the ways for students to improve their abilities of cooperation.
