作为革命派的重要报刊,《民报》于1905年中国同盟会在日本东京活动期间诞生,胡汉民、张继、章炳麟、陶成章、汪精卫等作为历任主编和主要撰稿人创办了这份当时有很大影响力的刊物。相对于文字传播,报刊图片的题材选择及其呈现,也是传递信息,为刊物主旨服务的一种方式。本文认为,《民报》在图像传播方面的倾向性值得注意,它集中刊载中国与异国革命运动的种种图像,呈现了一个处于轰轰烈烈革命浪潮中的世界;它赞扬了牺牲精神、武力抗暴和群体参与,试图令读者相信暴力革命是历史发展的动力,而中国革命是世界革命潮流的一部分。在这种革命的世界现指引下,《民报》尝试在读者脑海中建立起一种新的世界图景。
