文章认为,对于一个人、一个民族和一个国家来说,科学与人文相融则利,相离则弊。因为科学与人文不是彼此无关的事,科学与人文都有自己明确而强烈的追求,一个追求真,一个追求善,都在追求自己的真理,而真与善的追求往往不可分割。科学与人文都十分重视客观实际,尊重客观规律,努力探索客观存在的奥妙,二者在精神实质上是相通的。科学与人文的发展都离不开创造性思维,而正确的创造性思维都能透过现象,抓住本质,区分主次,把握关键,这是科学与人文的共同特征;同时,创造性思维又是一个整体性思维,是逻辑思维加形象思维,无论是科学家还是艺术家,其创造性思维概莫能外。教育应该是科技与人文的一体化教育。
