本文以strong和powerful为例,通过对比同义形容词搭配词的不同,从语义偏好角度探析形容词搭配使用中的典型语义特征。研究采用MI值的统计方法来确定搭配词共现的显著程度,数据来源于美国当代英语语料库(COCA)。研究结果表明,同义形容词的各自搭配和使用惯例之间有显著差异,可以归纳为两个特征:搭配词不同;语义偏好不同。本研究进一步探索了学习者搭配能力培养提高的途径,即在语言教学中引入索引工具,向学习者提供优质充足的输入材料。
This article takes strong and powerful as an example. By comparing the differences between synonymous adjectives and collocations, this paper analyzes the typical semantic features of adjective collocation from the perspective of semantic preference. The study used MI statistical methods to determine the significant co-occurrence of collocations, based on data from the American Contemporary English Corpus (COCA). The results show that there are significant differences between the respective collocations of adjectives and usage conventions, which can be summed up as two characteristics: different collocations and different semantic preferences. This study further explores ways to improve learners’ ability development by introducing an indexing tool in language teaching to provide learners with high-quality input materials.
