Based on the theory of density dependence and structure inertia, this paper examines the overseas investment location choices of multinational corporations from the perspective of organizational ecology. With Fortune (2012), the world’s top 500 manufacturing TNCs in Japan set up in China in 1997-2011 Subsidiary companies as samples, empirical study population density and behavioral inertia on the location of multinational companies choice. The results show that there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between population density and the possibility of TNC entry, and behavioral inertia plays a negative regulatory role on the relationship between population density and the possibility of TNC entry.
