The film was adapted from the same-name novel “Horton and the Anonymous” by Dr. Seuss, the famous American children’s writer and illustrator Ted Geisel (1904~1991). When the book was first introduced in 1954, it coincided with the upsurge of American McCarthyism (anti-communist anti-democratic political thoughts and political movements that occurred in the United States in the early 1950s; it was one of the prominent manifestations of fascism in American society). In this children’s book, the author expresses the idea that all beings are equal, and respect for individual differences. The motto of the hero’s elephant Horton - “No matter how small and small, people are always human” - became one of the propaganda words of the American Civil Rights Movement. The degree of influence is evident.
