2005年2月1日,江苏省委书记李源潮在泰州调研时指出:“医药是泰州的优势产业,要集中力量发展。要在泰州设立医药产业园,引进医药产业群,建设中国医药城,使泰州成为全省乃至全国最大的生产基地,使泰州成为中国有名的医药产业城。”为此,培育强大的医药产业,建设中国医药城,己成为泰州跨越发展的重要引擎。
