The line heat source method is one of the methods to determine the thermal conductivity of an object by using the unsteady heat conduction theory. This method was originally proposed by S. Pyk in 1931 and later by R.B. Mctaggavt in 1959. Due to its simple method, accurate results and good reproducibility, it has been widely used in the determination of the thermal conductivity of granular and flexible materials by West Germany and Japan. In addition to a brief introduction of the theory and method of the law, this article will also put forward the “hotline comparison method” to solve the problem of determination of the thermal conductivity of hard materials. In addition, in order to further expand the scope of the application of the line heat source method, but also introduced the use of wire heat source method for the determination of several specific examples of fluid thermal conductivity.
