Traditional models of economic development either imply or explicitly put forward a common proposition that underdeveloped countries will not experience the problem of insufficient investment demand. However, this proposition has been challenged more and more because the economic development in many underdeveloped countries has been subject to more serious investment constraints. The purpose of this paper is to explain why investment constraints exist in underdeveloped countries from the perspective of development economics. The author believes that in an underdeveloped country, the impact of the following three factors on investment demand can not be avoided: 1 imperfect market structure; 2 consumer demand Deficiencies; 3 income distribution deterioration.
