世纪之交的此刻,全球通用中文域名的横空出世尤如在日益汹涌的网络经济大潮之上又刮起一场骤凤。中国的互联网用户在2000年7月已经突破了1700万大关,越来越多的中国人开始接触互联网,但是英文在互联网上的普遍应用,已经成为一些中文用户更多融入互联网世界的障碍。而且随着互联网在中国的不断发展,中国互联网用户也将从熟悉英文的知识群体向不懂英文的普通用户转移,目前互联网英文域名这一事实标准就会造成这些用户应用互联网的主要瓶颈,因此域名的中文化是互联网在中国进一步发展的迫切需求。
At the turn of the century, the emergence of a global Chinese-language domain name is just as powerful as the ever-turbulent Internet economy. Internet users in China exceeded 17 million in July 2000, and more and more Chinese people started to have access to the Internet. However, the widespread application of English on the Internet has become an obstacle for more Chinese users to integrate into the Internet world. And as the Internet continues to evolve in China, Internet users in China will also migrate from knowledgeable English-speaking groups to ordinary users who do not know English. At present, the de facto standard of Internet English Domain Names will cause these users to use the Internet as a major bottleneck. Therefore, The Chinese culture of domain names is an urgent need for the further development of the Internet in China.
