In the 1990s, ecocriticism was formally established as a new genre of literary criticism in the United States. Lawrence Buyier is one of the most influential scholars in the field of ecological criticism in the United States. Bouyir’s ecocriticism is devoted to exploring the imagination of the environment in the literary texts and the natural position in the western thought. In the perspective of ecological criticism, Bouyir explores the influence of environmental imagination on literary studies and social culture. At the same time, Burkill explores environmental literary criticism and the natural world facing the danger of ecological deterioration, trying to reinterpret the nature and environment in literary texts and integrating it with the construction of contemporary ecological culture. He hopes this idea of ecocriticism can be used in Contemporary social culture to play a useful environmental influence.
