我国古代文论中有一个很重要的概念——虚笔,即作者不直接、正面把话讲完,留下“空白”和空间,让读者去想象、思考、品味、琢磨,从而将欣赏者带进一个寓意深远的艺术境界,收到更好的表达效果。所谓“虚实相生,寓实于虚”,“不著一字,尽得风流”(司空图《诗品》),“含不尽之意,见于言外”(梅圣俞)等,就是这个意思。运用虚笔,虚中见实,是我国古代艺术的传统特点。
