Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a cell-cloned myeloproliferative disease that has its origins in the neoplastic transformation of pluripotent stem cells, with clinically characterized significant granulocyte overgrowth. This article outlines a modern understanding of the disease, focusing on new concepts in pathogenesis and treatment. Pathophysiology CML is evidence of a hematopoietic stem cell clonal disease arising from cytogenetics and isoenzyme studies. Ph ~ 1 chromosome is a long arm of chromosome 22d shifted, nearly 90% is shifted to a long arm of chromosome 9, shorthand
