Comparison of HgCdTe infrared focal plane arrays based on photodiodes and photoconductors includes readout structures for both types of detectors, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) analysis for various structures, and noise requirements for coupled devices. The feasibility of line-column photoconductive infrared focal plane array is discussed. The importance of this new type of infrared focal plane array is introduced.
