在烟草花粉单倍体育种中,及早鉴别染色体加倍处理的结果,以便在加倍频率较低的情况下,进一步采取有效措施,提高染色体加倍频率,这对提高选择效率,加快育种进度是很重要的。近年来,国内外学者在红三叶草、白三叶草、苜蓿、马铃薯、甜菜、棉花和西瓜等作物中,发现染色体倍数性与气孔保卫细胞中叶绿体数目存在着正相关关系。因此,用气孔保卫细胞叶绿体计数法(以下简称气孔叶绿体计数法),测定染色体倍数性,已被有的学者认为是可行的。
