Objective To investigate the dynamic changes of cellular immune function in patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and to explore the relationship between immune function and the progression of the disease. Methods A total of 107 acute SARS patients were selected and divided into death group and cure group according to disease prognosis. The dynamic changes of immune function and the difference of immune function between the two groups were retrospectively analyzed. Results The immune function of patients with SARS dropped to the lowest point during the extreme period, showing a transient immunodeficiency and then rapidly recovered. There were no significant differences in the cellular immune function between the dead group and the cured group (P> 0.05).
