谌北新先生最早打动我的油画风景作品,是画西安美院校园旁边的少陵塬和杨万坡村景,那些画面效果我至今记忆犹新。他20世纪50年代在油训班的毕业作品《公园的早晨》《矿区》,色调鲜明、简洁概括,空气感很强。然而我更加喜欢他画的关中农村,表现性得色彩美和朴实无华的生活气息让我们感到非常亲切。他遵循现实主义创作手法,从现实生活的真实景象捕捉司空见惯的瞬间,面对平庸的对象,如落后贫穷、杂乱而境无夷险、路无大道、杂树交错、顶着瓦片的土墙茅草棚,但是谌先生用纵写横抹笔法、空旷清澈的色调、微妙
