The Polish government has recently established a development guideline for the power industry: 1. The Polish power supply system is connected to the Western European Power Production and Transfer Dispatch Committee (UCPTE) system. This shows that before Poland became a full member of the European Union, its power industry had taken the lead in becoming part of the EU power industry; 2. The government approved the “2010 Poland Energy Policy Outline” (hereinafter referred to as the “Outline”). According to the “Outline”, Poland’s power energy production will continue to be based on hard coal and lignite in the coming years, but will gradually be replaced by natural gas and oil. Before 2010, Poland did not build nuclear power plants. However, in the “Outline”, plans to build a gas pump storage power station.
