The author elaborates on the role, methods and problems of environmental impact assessment of hydropower design in Greece. Discuss the prospects of protecting the environment. Since Greece is already the 10th member of the European Economic Community (EEC), this article specifically discusses the group’s current views. Since 1965, the establishment of environmental impact assessment procedures for various projects concerning environmental issues such as construction plans, legislative regulations, economic policies, design and construction procedures has become a worldwide movement. This has been considered as an effective measure to include environmental issues in social and economic decision-making. Through the experience of established dams such as Volta, Karila, and Nasser and other international documents, it is proved that dams and artificial lakes will bring a wide range of environmental and socio-economic benefits A variety of effects.
