Vestibular neuronitis is a disease characterized by sudden severe vertigo associated with nausea and vomiting. Acute phase of spontaneous nystagmus, cold and hot test response to reduce or disappear, but no cochlear symptoms. The author observed 16 cases of vestibular neuritis between 1960 and 1972, half male and half female aged 17-76 years (half of the patients were between 50-59 years old). Before the onset of a sense of supine or gastroenteritis history. Dizziness gradually faded in days to weeks. Examination found: spontaneous nystagmus in 12 cases (11 cases of contralateral to the ipsilateral in 1 case). The remaining 4 cases in the onset of 2-6 weeks until no nystagmus. There was no reaction in 14 cases in hot and cold test (30 ℃ and 44 ℃ water); the results of prone water perfusion in 10 ℃ water were the same. More than 2 cases of cold test showed a weak reaction.
