关于北京近现代时期的英文报,我们在上期重点谈了英国人办的China Times(《益闻西报》,1901年创办,1902年报社移至天津)、中国人办的Peking Daily News(英文《北京日报》,1909-1937)、日本人办的North China Standard(《华北正报》,1919-1930)以及由中国人创办,后由美国人接办,最终成为中国政府喉舌的Peking Leader(《北京导报》,1918-1932)。但近现代时期在北京出版的英文报远不止这些。据初步统计,至少还有以下几种:The Far EasternTimes、People’s Tribune、The Yenching Gazette、The Peiping Chronicle和The Peiping News等五种,均为日报。我们先介绍The Far Eastern Times(《东方时
In the last issue of the English newspaper in Beijing, we focused on the China Times run by the British in the last issue (founded in 1901 and moved to Tianjin in the 1902 newspaper), Peking Daily News Beijing Daily, 1909-1937), the Japanese-run North China Standard (1919-1930) and the Peking Leader (founded by the Chinese and later by the Americans) that eventually became the voice of the Chinese government Beijing Herald, 1918-1932). However, the English newspapers published in Beijing in modern times have far more than that.
