1988年用小偃麦、小黑麦、栽培二粒小麦与普通小麦杂交,从后代中发现并培育出一批昆明夏播可育、长沙秋(冬)播不育小麦。1990年4月,又在长沙秋播(1989)的贵农14中,发现变异的不育单株 5个,所得少量种子在昆明夏播,表现正常可育,1990年在长沙继续秋播,观察到5个单株后代均表现出不同程度的不育特性和优良的农艺性状。其中,3、4、5号单株后代不育株率达100%。1990、1991年秋在长沙进行分用播种试验,发现3、4、5号单株后代的育性稳定,不育度高,异交结实率高,F1杂种优势较强,可用于田制杂种小麦。
