过去国内多数学校,在同学进行呼吸作用一章的实验时,都用比较简单的仪器,因之也只能进行比较简单的实验内容。大家都知道,Warburg微量呼吸计是研究呼吸作用的精密仪器,能进行多种试验,最好同学能具有使用该项仪器的初步知识,因此有必要给他们介绍,让他们有机会试用。但由於目前条件所限,要使每个同学都能操作精密仪器是不大可能的,如有比较简单的代用品,就有可能满足这个要求。同时,在还未具有正式微量呼吸计的教研组,如我们浙江农学院植物生理教研组,由於没有实物,课堂和讲义上看到的都是图,同学看了,很难了解这个仪器,
