The “Open Channel Flow Telemetering System for Irrigation”, jointly developed by the Tianjin Institute of Waterway Engineering and Transportation and the Tanggu Water Conservancy Bureau, passed the appraisal organized by the Tianjin Science and Technology Commission in 1998-09-29. The appraisal opinion holds that it is the first time in China that the integrated flow telemetry system is developed and applied in farmland irrigation canal system, and the system as a whole is in the leading position in China. The system measures the amount of water using the building method, and the use of model tests and field measurement method combined with reliable results.
