The China (Xiamen) International Boat Show 2011 will be staged from November 4-7. Covering an area of 20,000 square meters with 300 berths, it will be China’s largest boat show and an extravaganza for yacht manufacturers and enthusiasts.
A series of other activities will be held alongside the boat show, such as a welcoming banquet, cruises, a seminar, a photography competition and a wedding upon one of the sailing vessels.
The annual international boat show has become a unique attraction of southeast China’s Xiamen City.
Grand innovation for opening ceremony
In order to further upgrade the show and adhere to its theme “Yachting—A New Urban Leisure Fashion,” the organizing committee has decided the opening ceremony will be a parade of flower boats with various themes, and will manifest the new fashion of yachting life in particular, that is, Simple, Colorful and Magnificent. Through the show, it is expected to blend with city leisure culture, create a new economic mode and highlight the particular characteristics of “The First On-water Show in China” in Xiamen Marina.
Breakthrough
Abandoning the previous operating mode, this year’s China Xiamen International Boat Show will adopt enclosed exhibitions and open-to-public ticket sales this year, attracting potential yacht buyers to visit.
Encouraging initiative
In order to encourage exhibitors’ extensive participation and give full play to the initiative of yachting enterprises, the organizing committee is encouraging exhibitors to hold enterprise activities and create publicity during the show, which will fully showcase their products during the four-day show as domestic and overseas potential buyers gather in Xiamen. Also, these entrepreneurial activities and the publicity will make the show more interesting. At present, yachting enterprises, such as Azimut, Speedo Marine, DHS, Jet-Tern and NAVI, have all confirmed they will hold various activities. The organizing committee will put those activities on the agenda and invite media to publicize and report on their activities.
Progressive internationalization
To date, more than 140 enterprises have confirmed to participate in the show. There will be over 150 enterprises and more than 200 brands on display at the coming boat show. After having been successfully held for three times, China (Xiamen) International Boat Show 2011 has acquired an upper status among the boat shows in the world, and a great number of foreign yacht dealers who will participate in the event provide evidence for it. At present, the countries and regions having confirmed to participate in this Show are Italy, Thailand, France and Hong Kong. Eighteen famous Italian yacht enterprises will take part in the show. Besides, Royal Phuket Marina (RPM), which is of great reputation in yacht field, has also confirmed to participate in the show. RPM has chosen China (Xiamen) International Boat Show 2011 as its first appearance in China, an evidence of the acknowledgment from worldclass yacht brands for the show.
Largest-scale boat show in China
Xiamen Road and Bridge Yacht Development Co. Ltd. has started the second-phase expansion of 236 berths, and part of which have been put into service in China Xiamen International Boat Show 2011. These berths are bound to become a highlight of the show. At present, more than 160 real boats have been confirmed to be exhibited on the on-water exhibition area. Such a large scale is unprecedented in China’s domestic boat shows and is worth expecting.
Luxurious experience at the show
In order to make it more colorful, a special luxury area has been set up at the
show. At present, the show has gathered a great number of top automobile brands like Rolls-Royce, GMC and Ferrari, and many luxurious brands of top jewelry and collection. In addition, the on-site helicopter performance will also be of great highlight in presenting a splendid visual feast that integrates sea, land and air for audiences.
Distinguished guests
In addition to the 200 VIPs each with more than 500 million yuan ($79 million) asset, this year’s boat show has also invited many distinguished guests, including Jurij Korenc, chairman of International Federation of Boat Show Organisers(IFBSO), Tom Willis, Secretary General of IFBSO, Benedetto Latteri, consul-general of Consulate General of the Republic of Italy in Guangzhou, Bob Manning, chief trade and investment consul of British Consulate General Guangzhou, Andrew Chapman, president of Marina Industries Association Of Australia, to present at the show.

With the emerging of the yacht industry in China, the coastal provinces and cities are all energetically promoting the development of marine and yacht economy. However, there is yet no mature model in the operation and management of yacht clubs and docks in yacht service industry. The seminar at this year’s boat show will gather worldwide important insiders together to learn the advanced management experience at home and abroad, and enhance insiders’ understanding to the current development of domestic and overseas yacht industry, especially the operation and management of yacht club.
