The metamorphism of volcanic rocks is often recognized as a major mineralization that forms many gold deposits (Boyle, 1979). However, data on the background gold content of volcanic rocks and the exact mechanism of activation and migration in gold from the intrusive rocks are very scarce. The purpose of this paper is to determine the background value of gold in the Late Proterozoic female-hosted rock in Hosggar (Northwest Africa), to assess the effect of low-grade metamorphism on the distribution of gold in the rock and the role of such low-grade metamorphism in the formation of gold deposits effect.
