在中国现代文学史上,白马湖作家群是一个非常值得人们关注的文学群体,他们以夏丏尊、丰子恺、朱自清和叶圣陶等为代表,其思想品格、道德规范、艺术追求等,相当典型地代表了现代中国一部分文人作家的创作特质。这个文人群体生当政局十分动荡的时代,在风云突变的20世纪二三十年代,他们始终秉持自己的本性,做心以为然的事,显现出十分独特的人生信仰与处世方式。在纷繁嘈杂的政治大背景中,他们始终拥有着恬淡的内心世界,远离利益争斗的社会政治体制,追寻并潜心于文化道德建树和探索之中,向世人展示着与众不同的处世哲学以及人生态度。
