深层搅拌法作为一种经济、快捷的施工方法在软基处理、基坑支护及截渗工程中被大量采用。然而,深层搅拌桩是一种半刚性半柔性桩。由于深层搅拌桩水泥土的高压缩性和较低的抗弯、抗剪性能,其应用范围受到很大限制。尤其在基坑支护及承担较大单桩承载力方面更为突出,为有效改善深层搅拌桩的力学性质,提高深层搅拌桩的抗弯、抗剪性能和单桩竖向承载力,在深层搅拌桩中插入刚性材料,形成所谓的加筋深层搅拌桩(SMW工法)。
