This paper introduces the structure of ± 50 Mvar Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) with integrated gate commutated thyristor chain inverter, various tests and results of the device before commissioning, including start-up and grid-connection test, open loop Control test, closed-loop control test, capacitor cascade test and 72 h load test.
