结合简帛文献和儒家传世文献,可以看到孔子之后儒家思想有一种明显的“内转”趋势。《五行》,揭示了“圣”德与听觉意识及“乐”之间的深刻关联,并强调“慎独”之独特内涵,以此突出内心自由和“心”之修养的地位。而重情,尤其是亲亲之情,在郭店简中也有突出的表现。《六德》和《唐虞之道》从不同的角度揭示了亲亲之情在伦理和政治生活中的重要地位。《性自命出》即情言性,在心与物相接的感应之几上言教化,并以“反善复始”的“复性”义规定此教化成德之本质内涵。这些文献通过对心、性、情以及气等具体论题的探讨,丰富了对人之最本己的能力和可能性及其实践道路的理解,深化了孔子所开启的“内转”的精神方向,为孟子的出场做了思想史的铺垫。
