Over 50% decline in spending on luxury goods In recent years, the Chinese luxury goods market was once hot: In 2011, the World Luxury Association released a report saying that Chinese consumers’ spending on luxury products surged 18% each year. In 2009, the total consumption of luxury goods in China reached 11.8 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 30% of the global luxury goods consumption. “World Luxury Association ” was expected in 2015, China’s domestic luxury goods consumption will reach 27 billion U.S. dollars, surpassing the number one in the world of Japan. However, the “World Luxury Association ” forecast mispredicted. In 2012, China’s total luxury spending reached 306 billion yuan, or $ 50,000,000 billion, surpassing Japan and becoming the world’s largest consumer of luxury goods. For several years, China is the number one country in the world in terms of the growth in the consumption of luxury goods. According to the British media, the luxury goods purchased by the Chinese people will exceed 44% of the global sales by 2020.
