In the deep mining of mines and excavation of large caverns, it is an important issue to identify the stress state around the cavity. This article is limited to study stress relief method of pore wall strain. The methods adopted in the past are introduced and the stress measurement accuracy is theoretically analyzed. Meanwhile, the method of determining the ground pressure by measuring the spherical bottom surface strain is discussed.
