70年代末,我国线材及小型轧机等开始采用四列圆柱滚子轴承取代膠木瓦滑动轴承及其他类型的滚动轴承(球面滚子及圆锥滚子轴承),提高了轧机轧制速度和产品精度,降低了废品率及能耗,因此,获得广泛应用。但轴承寿命尚不理想,特别是为改造旧轧机而设计的宽度较窄的轴承,如FC3045120E(原代号为672730K)等,问题更为突出,平均寿命仅在1000~1300h左右。轧机轴承的损坏往往造成整个轧线停产,因此提高轧机轴承的寿命及可靠性具有很高的经济价值。
