Nippon Photographic Film Co., Ltd. and Nippon Denshi Co., Ltd. jointly developed a sensitive display called “PIXsysTEM”. This sensitive display combines a transmission electron microscope (TEM) with a picture board. The image plate is an image sensor coated with barium, fluorine and bromine phosphorescent crystals, which greatly improves the resolution of a transmission electron microscope. It absorbs the energy of electrons and X-rays, which energy is subsequently released by laser irradiation and converted by the system to digital readout. Due to the high sensitivity of the image panel, the sensitivity of the system is 100 to 1000 times the sensitivity of conventional transmission electron microscopy, greatly reducing the damage suffered by the sample during microscopy and increasing the sensitivity of quantitative image analysis accuracy.
