《高等学校英语专业英语教学大纲》(2000)明确规定了英美课程的教学目的在于“培养学生阅读、欣赏、理解英语文学原著的能力,掌握文学批评的基本知识和方法。通过阅读和分析英美文学作品,促进学生语言基本功和人文素质的提高,增强学生对西方文学及文化的了解”。[1]由此可见,英美文学课程担负着提高学生英语语言综合能力以及文学审美、鉴赏、感悟能力等多重职责,是英语专业必修课程。然而,该课程由于历史跨度较大,作家风格多样,文学流派纷繁,文化思潮各异等因素导致内容庞杂,加之课时量少,
The Syllabus for College English Majors (2000) clearly stipulates that the purpose of the teaching of the Anglo-American course is to “train students’ ability to read, appreciate and understand the original English literature and master the basic knowledge and methods of literary criticism.” By reading and analyzing the Anglo-American Literary works to promote the students improve their basic skills and humanistic quality of language to enhance students’ understanding of Western literature and culture. [1] Thus, the Anglo-American literature course is responsible for improving students’ comprehensive ability of English language as well as literature aesthetic, appreciation, sentiment and other multiple responsibilities, is a compulsory English course. However, due to the large span of history, diverse styles of writers, numerous schools of literary genres and varied cultural trends,
