A gene clone encoding aspartic protease (0075M) has been obtained from the gene library of Plasmodium falciparum HB_3 strain. The gene fragment was 14136bp long and contained 1368bp open reading frame as determined by dideoxy sequencing. The protein encoded by this gene was indistinguishable from the amino acid sequence of aspartic acid hemoglobin Ⅱ N isolated by D.
