More Intelligent in Dreams
When a student failed to solve a math problem in class， he expressed his regret to his teacher.
“I remember solving the problem in my dream last night， but for the time being Ive forgotten it. What does it mean？”
“It means that you are more intelligent in dreams than when you are awake，” the teacher explained.
梦中更聪明
一名学生在课上没有做出老师的数学题，他感到很遗憾。他对老师解释说：“我记得昨天夜里做梦把这道题做对了，但现在一时想不起来了。这说明什么？”
“这说明你做梦的时候比你醒着的时候更聪明，”老师解释说。
The Broom-seller and the Barber
A man who sold brooms went into a barbers shop to get shaved. The barber bought one of his brooms， and， when he had shaved him， asked for the price of it.
“Two pence，” said the man.
“No， no，” said the barber， “I will give you a penny， and if you do not think that enough， you may take your broom again.”
The man took it， and asked what he had to pay for his shave.
“A penny，” said the barber.
“I will give you a half-penny， and if that is not enough， you may put on my beard again.”
卖扫帚的人和理发师
一个卖扫帚的人去一家理发店刮胡子。理发师向他买了一把扫帚。当理发师给他理完发后，问了一下扫帚的价钱。
卖扫帚的人说：“两便士。”
“不，不，”理发师说，“我只出一便士。如果你认为不够的话，可以把扫帚拿回去。”
卖扫帚的人取回了扫帚，随后问刮胡子要付多少钱。
理发师说：“一便士。”
卖扫帚的人说：“我只能给你半个便士，如果你认为不够的话，你可以把胡子再替我装上。”
Half Dead
Sam cant swim. A few days ago he fell into the river. He called for help. A young man jumped into the water and pulled him out.
“That young man saved your life，” said his wife， “shouldnt we give him a pound？”
“I was half dead when he pulled me out，” said Sam， “give him 50 pence， dear.”
半死不活
萨姆不会游泳，几天前他掉到了河里，大喊救命。一位年轻小伙子跳到水里把他拉了上来。
“那位小伙子救了你的命，”他妻子说道：“难道我们不应该给他一英镑吗？”
“他把我拉上来时我已经半死不活了，”萨姆说：“亲爱的，给他50便士吧！”
How a Chick Gets into Its Egg Shell
One day， a teacher took his pupils to a chicken farm to pay a visit. When they came near the incubator， one chick just got out of its egg shell.
“Its wonderful to see a little thing come out from the egg shell， isnt it？” the teacher said.
“Yes， sir，” said one of the boys， “but it would be more wonderful if we knew how a chick gets into its egg shell.”
小鸡是怎样钻进蛋壳里的
一天，老师带学生到养鸡场参观，当他们走近孵卵器时，刚好一只小鸡破壳出来。
“能看见小鸡从蛋壳出来，多奇妙啊，不是吗？”老师說。
“是的，老师。”一个小男孩说：“但是，如果我们能知道它是怎样钻进蛋壳里的，那就更奇妙了。”
