Objective To understand the epidemiological characteristics of schistosomiasis in susceptible seasons in Jiangtan area and to provide evidence for the prevention and control of schistosomiasis in susceptible seasons. Methods A retrospective questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate residents’ exposure to water. The Kato katz method was used to investigate the prevalence of schistosomiasis in the population. Results The contact rate of faecal water increased with age and peaked at the age of 30, and remained at this peak level afterwards. The female was significantly higher than the male and the farmer was significantly higher than the students. The higher the educational level, the higher the contact rate low. The way of contact with adolescents mainly swim and play water, while adults over 20 years of age are mainly based on the washing; women mainly wash, in addition to washing men, swimming and playing a larger proportion of water; farmers mainly to wash, students to swim Water-based, followed by washing; illiterate people to wash-based, primary education and junior high school population divided by washing, swimming accounted for a certain percentage. The prevalence rate of infectious water in population under 60 years of age was basically consistent with the rate of population infection, but there was no significant difference in infection rates among different sexes, different occupations and different education levels. Conclusions Peasants and women are the main contact groups for the main contact with live-in and recreational contact, and the young and middle-aged are the main infected people
