Objective To investigate the preventive effect of dexmedetomidine on wakefulness in children after sevoflurane anesthesia. Methods Seventy cases of tonsillectomy and adenoid hypertrophy in Sheyang County People’s Hospital from January 2014 to October 2016 were selected and divided into control group and observation group according to random number table method, 35 cases in each group. Children were induced with sevoflurane anesthesia, 0.9% sodium chloride solution was given to children in the control group during the operation, and dexmedetomidine hydrochloride injection was given to the observation group. The RSAS score and adverse reactions of the two groups were compared. Results The RSAS score and the rate of adverse reactions in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P <0.05). Conclusion Dexmedetomidine plays a preventive and control role in restless wakefulness after pediatric sevoflurane anesthesia and is safe and reliable.
