According to statistics, China’s meat production has accounted for more than 20% of the global total meat production. Since the total meat production reached 88.57 million tons in 1990, it has grown at an average annual rate of 10.9%. China’s total meat production ranks first in the world. The development of meat production has promoted the rise of the meat processing industry. As far as state-owned businesses are concerned, the country has established more than 430 large and medium-sized cities in meat food companies, more than 1800 county-level food companies and tens of thousands of grass-roots food purchase and sales outlets.
