基本层次范畴是各种范畸系列中认知显突性最强的一个范畴。它们所拥有的范畴属性在数量上都较大,且在质量上均呈区别性特征。人们对上位范畴和下位范畴的认知在很大程度上都依赖于基本层次范畴,因此对基本层次范畴的认识和研究显得非常重要。英汉民族存在不同的语言文化环境,人们对词语的认知层次和认知需要是不同的。所学者和翻译工作者特别要注意这样的问题。
The basic level categories are the most prominent areas of cognition in all kinds of fan-distortion series. The category attributes they have are large in quantity and are qualitatively distinguishable. People’s cognition to the superordinate category and the subordinate category depends largely on the basic categories, so it is very important to understand and study the basic categories. English and Chinese have different linguistic and cultural environments, and people’s cognitive level and cognitive needs are different. Scholars and translators pay particular attention to such issues.
