大泵站一般具有以下几个特点:1.总装机容量大。通常由专线供电,并且距上一级变电所较远,供电线路长。2.单台机组容量大,多数采用同步电动机作为动力机,也有少数泵站中同步电动机与异步电动机混用。3.负荷较稳定,波动不大。4.泵站开机期间一般正值农灌用电高峰季节,整个电网电压偏低。由于以上几个特点,所以大泵站系统有必要,也有可能利用同步电动机对本泵站系统中的供电线路、变压器、异步电动机等感性负荷进行无功补偿,提高系统功率因数和供电电压,降低泵站系统的电能损耗。
