麻省理工学院计算机科学实验室正在开发一种新的信息技术基础设施——“氧”系统。这种基础设施有望实现科学家早就提出的一种设想:帮助人们理解自身,并获得事半功倍的信息服务效果。该实验室主任赫布·凯莱赫认为,不久的将来将会出现的信息世界模式就是信息市场,其中,数亿台人工操作的机器和无数装配在各种器具、传感器、控制器等设备中的计算机将通过网络连接起来,这些机器及其用户通过网络进行购买、出售及自由交换信息和信息服务。
The MIT Computer Science Laboratory is developing a new information technology infrastructure called the “oxygen” system. This infrastructure is expected to bring about the idea long ago put forward by scientists to help people understand themselves and to get a multiplier effect of information services. According to Herb Kelleher, director of the laboratory, the information world model that will emerge in the near future is the information market, where hundreds of millions of manually-operated machines and countless devices assembled in various appliances, sensors, controllers, etc. Of the computers will be connected via a network that these machines and their users buy, sell and freely exchange information and information services over the Internet.
