HCFC-141b is one of the major alternatives to freons. The introduction of oxygen in trace amounts dramatically improves the response of electron capture detection (ECD), allowing conventional GC-ECD methods to measure this material effectively. The data show that this sensitivity enhancement effect is optimal at φ (O2) = 1.0% in carrier gas, which is 50 times more than in the case of anaerobic conditions; and the mechanism is discussed
